“A Shot in the Dark”

5.4.05

genre: poetry-spoken word

I’m not being sarcastic
I’m not trying to keep a secret
I’m not attacking anyone
Except for myself.
I blame others
For the crap they commit
And yet
I crap
On their reputation
I slice them in the back,
When they’re wrong, I attack
When I’m right, I lay back
Thinkin’ bout how good
Is my act.
No word to the wise
I wake up aching
To despise you
And I blame you.
I tell you you’re my friend
You’ve got your foot in my door
And then when you are gone
I call you a whore.
To your face, I won’t tell you.
Oh no it’s too much.
And yet I get angry
When you f*ck things up.
Go ahead,
Like my smile?
Oh I bet you do
C’mon, let’s go shopping
We’re best friends through and through
Why don’t you step up?!
Why are you so blind?
I guess it takes a genius to see
I’m as fake as you,
And you’re as fake as me.
But look,
I’m perfect
as can be
And I’ve got all the time
In the world to repair
What I’m tearing up right now
My beauty’s everywhere.It’s your fault
I blame you
No excuse for you to command
I can’t believe how much I hate you
You’re ugly and I hate you
You just make me want to hate you
Don’t you dare make me hate you.

I care more than you do
I do more than you do
I hurt more than you do.
Oh, but tell me that joke again!
Haha! You kill me.
