Upon listening to the Presidential Election debate on the radio...
Upon listening to the Presidential Election debate on the radio (I didn't have the privilege of seeing any of the contorted looks on Trump's face that reporters mentioned after the fact, but rather I had to rely on the irritating sound of his voice instead)...
Loved, loved, loved how Trump failed to answer the question on more than one occasion. Not even failed, but rather, avoided completely and attempted to change the subject (again...and again).
Loved how he tried to convince us he had a substantial amount of concern for the well-being of African and Latino Americans making statements sounding similar to sympathy and even pity. I merely could not buy it, and I most certainly couldn't stomach his voice turning soft as he made them. They could not eclipse the endless racist comments he's only ceased to make (during this election) because he was called out for making them.
And while there is some truth to his belief that money is the lube that makes the world go round, while he espoused the sentiment that all past politicians failed because they failed to know how money works, I highly doubt the majority of Americans will vote for him on this platform alone. The strongest platform he seemed to stand on in this debate. (If you don't count the "I'm taking you down, Hilary" platform he also seemed to dance upon.)
I imagine the older generations would prefer not to leave the fate of the nation in the hands of a man who sees gold bars and cash as the main solution. I myself cannot stand behind that. And I don't know how much more I can take listening to this man's smug voice, accusatory one moment, emoting false sentiments the next. Donald Trump amazes me. He really is something else. But what amazes me more is how far he has come in this election. How far Americans have pushed him through this election. How Americans can even CONSIDER a man like Donald the money munching mogul Trump to be President of the United States.
But it really makes you think, doesn't it? Is our country that broken, the citizens of this nation that...disparate...that we've allowed this to come to pass? For him to become THEE Republican candidate.
Where did we go wrong? He is obviously getting some things right. Perhaps we must do some American-soil searching and figure it out. Like SOON. Let's get our act together before more people begin falling for his.
Before we make a mistake it'll take four years to be rid of. And the repercussions. Oh, Lord. Could be catastrophic. This November, vote "NO" on petty, ignorant, smug clowns who parade around thinking their millions are going to make this world a better place. Our country is so divided and plagued with so many issues, I honestly do not know how any amount of money is going to make America great again. I know Barack Obama promised to deliver many things, and faltered on some of those promises, but I voted for Obama because he made America hope again. He showed us we can change, we are not chained to the past. Yes, he was wishy washy, many times not wanting to take a stance on one issue in fear of isolating those who stood for the other, but Hilary had a point. He is a man of dignity, and not once did he stoop to the low level that Trump oh so happily stoops to.
Maybe I'm more in favor of Barack Obama the man and not Barack Obama the President. And if that is the case, Obama the man vs. Trump the man? No comparison. No, the election is not between Obama and Trump here, but as many mistakes that Trump LOVES to point out about Barack Obama, he is half the man Obama is, if even that, and I can't stand behind him. I won't. I fear a nation led by a man with a head of hair that comes from who knows where. (They claim it is not a comb over.) I see Trump stomping about the globe, basically, screwing a lot of things up, filling the world with country clubs and hotels, incensing populations, and causing eyes to roll.
I see a belligerent fellow whose fierce words tell a frightening tale if put into action. You want to live in Trump land? Fine. Wait. I'm sorry. I couldn't hear you over all the yelling and bad-mouthing. Oh FINE...is what you said. Hmm...a quality Mr. Trump is far from owning. He may own a lot of things, but dignity, chivalry, humility and self-composure aren't amongst them. You'd think all that money would buy him some manners, eh? Nay.
